unraveled

So...I'm still playing. When will it end?

Maybe a wee bit better this time now that I've fiddled with the perspective and distort buttons.

Trying to use Photoshop to see if the knot works on top of the box.
I need to practise more with photoshop, but I think you get the idea.

Claus Oldenburg

Looking at this as a way to propose different situations for the knot. Use photoshop to give an idea of what the work could look like in different places.

Walkies

More experiments. Thinking about form

I quite like the 'tail'. It makes me think that this thing is almost alive. A quick shake down and it could untangle itself. So, I think I want it to look pathetic, but not hopeless. Might untie the knots at the end of the tubes for a nice wrinkled, saggy, pathetic look....Did I say that this is a self-portrait?

Clever cloud 2008

glass, stainless steel wire, light
1000cm x 400cm

A suspended concept for a corporate interior. Designed with the water industry in mind, this work could also be successful in a scientific context. Clever Cloud is made from hundreds of hand crafted test tubes suspended using fine stainless steel wire.

The lighting system is designed to be responsive to outside weather conditions.

Not sure what shape or size to make this. Thinking maybe life size, what shape? Try lots. Also thinking about hanging or suspending the knot somehow...hmmm

I liked the shredded paper showing through the fabric tubes. I could see bits of words and this seemed relevant. All the reading I am doing, the lectures, the gallery visits...some of it must be going in, but I'm not sure it's all making sense yet. It's still all a bit fragmented.

Also I don't fully understand how the machine that is the Mac operates. However, I have been hunting out all the paper shredders in the offices. There are some really friendly people behind all those formidable black doors.

I began to think of other ways to get my 'tangled up' thinking into some form. I was given a book of Louise Bourgeois drawings and noticed the drawings of knots. Maybe I could make a big knot.. I decided to experiment ..
